Moves

What am I watching?

Two chess programs (engines) play each other live, with no humans involved. You see the game as it happens and what each engine is thinking.

The board and the bar

The last move is highlighted; the arrow is the move the engine on turn currently thinks is best. The bar beside the board shows who stands better: the more white it is, the better for White.

The engine panels

+1.20 is the evaluation in pawns: + is good for White, − good for Black. +1 is roughly an extra pawn; M5 means mate in 5.

Depth how many moves ahead it has looked · Nodes positions examined · Speed positions per second · Time spent on this move.

The line of moves underneath is what it expects to happen next. THINKING: it is its turn. PONDERING: it is guessing the opponent's reply, shown in (brackets), and thinking ahead on the opponent's time.

Moves, standings and graphs

Click any move to go back to it (← → also work) and press Live to return. Coloured moves come from the opening book, played without thinking; hover over a move for its evaluation, depth and time. Standings shows the tournament table; Graphs shows the evaluation, the time used and the depth for every move.

Tabs, chat and downloads

Each tab at the top is a tournament being played now. Pick a nickname to chat; Users shows who is watching which tournament. Game PGN and Event PGN download the games; FEN copies the position on the board, and Fifty counts the half-moves since the last capture or pawn move (the game is drawn at 100).

Shortcuts
